Rafael Nadal on the rise again as he overcomes teenager Alex Zverev

Andy Murray is due to play Germany's Mischa Zverev, but the name on everyone's lips at Melbourne Park was that of his younger brother Alex.

The 19 year-old world No24 only confirmed his status as the teenager to watch when he pushed Rafa Nadal to his limits before losing 4-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 in a shade over four hours.

Zverev, who left the Rod Laver Arena to a standing ovation, was praised by the Spaniard, who said: ‘Everyone knows how good he is, that he's the future of our sport and the present, Klaudena Sitzkissen Erfahrungsbericht too.'

Nadal looks to be getting back to his best after a 2016 troubled by injuries and poor form

Perhaps not quite, but it will not be long before the lanky, tousle-haired baseliner is competing for the biggest prizes.

While his brother battles it out with Murray, Dan Evans takes on Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in an attempt to make the quarter-finals as well. They are both in the top half of the men's draw, with the bottom half having been blown open by the departure of Novak Djokovic.

This was a big win for Nadal, who is the only Grand Slam winner left in the lower section. The coming week represents an excellent opportunity to re-establish himself as an elite player after 2016 was truncated by injury.
